Tagalog with Kikay

Privacy Policy · Effective July 28, 2026

Overview

Tagalog with Kikay ("the app") is made for children and families, and we built it to respect your privacy. This policy explains what information the app does and does not handle.

Information we collect

From children: no personal information. The app does not ask children for their name, age, photo, voice, or location, and it never asks a child for anything about themselves. What is stored for a child is only what they earn in the game — words learned, stars, stickers, mini-game bests — together with the nickname and buddy a grown-up chose for their profile. That is kept on the device, and mirrored to our own server only while a grown-up is signed in, so it follows your family to your other devices. From parents (optional): if a parent subscribes via the website and creates a household account, we store their email address on our servers to send a sign-in code when they request one. We also store a device session token (a random identifier, not linked to any personal data) for each device the parent signs in on, so we can verify their subscription is still active and revoke access if it lapses. A parent can delete the household and everything stored for it — profiles and progress included — from the For Grown-Ups screen, or by contacting us at privacy@kikayadventures.com.

How progress is stored

Your child's learning progress — words learned, stars, stickers, and the nickname a grown-up chose for their profile — is always saved on the device, and the app is fully playable with no connection at all. If a grown-up signs in to a household account, that same progress is also stored on our own server so it follows your family to every device you sign in on. It is stored under a random household identifier, uploaded in the background, and never shared with, sold to, or processed by any third party. Profile names are the nicknames you choose — please keep them nicknames rather than your child's real name. Deleting the app removes the on-device copy. Progress can be cleared anytime from the For Grown-Ups screen, which also clears the copy stored on our server. That screen also lets a grown-up delete the whole household — every child profile and all progress — from our server in one step.

No ads or tracking

The app shows no advertising and uses no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies. We do not use device identifiers to track your child.

Device permissions

The app does not request access to the camera, photo library, microphone, location, contacts, or any other sensitive device feature.

Purchases and subscriptions

The app is free to use. It also offers an optional Premium subscription that only a grown-up can choose to buy. If — and only if — a grown-up subscribes, the purchase is handled by the app store (Apple's App Store or Google Play) and by RevenueCat (for app store purchases), or directly by PayPal (for website purchases). App store purchases are processed by Apple or Google and RevenueCat, which uses an anonymous identifier to verify the subscription. Website purchases via PayPal create a household account linked to the parent's email so the subscription can be verified on any family device. In both cases, purchase data is used only to deliver and verify the subscription — never for advertising, tracking, or profiling your child. Your child's learning progress is never part of a purchase and still stays on the device.

Children's privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

The app is directed to children and complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the children's provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K). What we collect from children: no personal information. We do not collect, use, disclose, or sell any personal information from children, and nothing in the app asks a child about themselves. Learning progress — words learned, stars, stickers, mini-game bests — and the nickname a grown-up chose for a child's profile are stored on the device, and stored on our own server as well while a grown-up is signed in, so the family's progress follows them to their other devices. It is held under a random household identifier, used for nothing except giving the progress back to that family's devices, and never shared with any third party. What we collect from parents: only the email address used to create a household account (website subscriptions only), plus session tokens for devices they sign in on. This is stored only to verify the subscription. A parent account is only accessible behind the parental gate. Children cannot create accounts or see parent data. Parental rights: Parents and guardians may contact us at privacy@kikayadventures.com to ask questions about our COPPA or GDPR-K practices, ask what we hold for their household, or request deletion of any information we hold. We will respond within 30 days. How to delete all data: To delete on-device data, uninstall the app or use the "For Grown-Ups" screen. To delete everything held on our servers — the household, every child profile, and all their progress — use "Delete our data from the server" on the "For Grown-Ups" screen, or email privacy@kikayadventures.com.

Third parties

Children's learning progress is stored only on the device and on our own server, and is never given to anyone else. The third parties involved are: (1) the app store (Apple or Google) and RevenueCat, if a grown-up buys through the app store; (2) PayPal, if a grown-up subscribes via the website; and (3) Resend, the email service we use to send sign-in codes to parents who have a household account. Resend receives only the parent's email address and the message — it receives no information about children. None of these third parties ever receive children's learning progress.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date shown below and the version in the app.
